Opportunity Summary

We are looking for a partner to organise, manage all aspects of raising the funds to plant trees in the Phillipines as I intend to stay in the Philipines to oversee the planting and maintainance of the trees.
We currently own a farm there and have planted some 3000 mahogony and teak trees and are about to plant 10,000 more this season as an investment. I now want to extend this opperation to the surrounding areas as an offsetting project.
My idea is to assist local people, who allthough they own land which through logging and neglect and lack of investment over the years has become tangled with weed. Quite simply we clear their land plant with productive trees, fruits or rubber or what ever they want, we then assist them for around three years until the trees are strong enough to grow unassisted then leave it to the land owners. I believe that this way although maybe not planting in the millions is a more sustainable way of reforesting as the local land owners will take care of the trees in the long run as their income will come from it, and it is creating badly needed work in poor area and nobody is being moved of thier own land as with some projects.
Project economics
Through the experience of planting the trees on our farm in the last few years it will cost around three pounds [£ 3,oo] to clear the land plant and maintain a tree. Currently many organisations are charging around twenty pounds per tree and subcontract the planting I estimate that initially we can plant around 20.000 trees or around 25 hectares in the first season.
